There are very few, if none, places in the world where you cannot come across a Bell Flight helicopter, ranging from the iconic 47 and 206 and the unmistakable chop chop sound of the UH-1 series all the way to the latest 400 and 500 series in their range. It is of great joy, as an aviation enthusiast, that Bell is a Visual Components user of our #simulation software. Using Visual Components, Bell has greatly reduced the time to develop an automation solution and implement that solution into production. This reduces both the risks for failure and time to market for #automation solutions.Take a look!#3dsimulation #automationsolutions #aviationtech #aviationinnovation #textronaviation #futureofmanufacturing

"Should you use OOP* or not to develop FLIGHT CONTROL SOFTWARE?" A question asked by Prof. Robert Stengel, an academic aerospace expert including comments from Richard Riehle, PhD, in a recent post here on LinkedIn.I'm not an Aerospace Engineer, but I made a comment on that thread based on what I read on MathWorks site: "I think that the question posed is only applicable if one has to do hand-coding but with the availability of MBD (model based design) graphical programming tools like Simulink (Matlab) makes the question redundant..."The link to that discussion thread is posted in the comments which you can read about it. The Ariane 5rocket's flight control software from 1996 launched by ESA (European Space Agency) was hand-coded. The rocket's explosion was due to multiple errors including integer overflow error. Such potential errors are caught & flagged in Simulink during code generation, validation and debugging._____Here's a #ChatGPT summary of why MBD with #Matlab and #Simulink are well suited:• A powerful MBD tool that allows engineers to design, simulate, and analyze complex systems graphically. Flight control systems are highly complex, and Simulink's visual modeling environment makes it easier to represent and understand the system's behavior• The block diagram representation is intuitive and closely resembles the way engineers conceptualize control systems. This makes it easier to translate control algorithms into executable code• Real-time simulation is crucial for flight control software development. Engineers can simulate the control system in real time to validate its performance and test various scenarios before implementing it on the actual hardware• Automatic code generation allows engineers to automatically generate C or C++ code from their Simulink models, which can be directly integrated into the flight control system's hardware• Simulink provides tools for model verification and validation, including simulation, formal methods, and code verification. These capabilities are essential for ensuring the safety and reliability of flight control software• Simulink HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing, enables engineers to test flight control software with realistic hardware components, such as sensors and actuators, in a controlled environment. This helps identify and resolve issues before deploying the software on an actual aircraft• Simulink offers a wide range of toolboxes and add-ons that are specifically tailored for aerospace and control systems engineering• Flight control systems often involve multiple domains, such as electrical, mechanical, and control systems. Simulink allows engineers to model and simulate these multi-domain systems, ensuring that all components work together seamlessly• It is widely used in the aerospace industry and has a strong community of users and developers. There are extensive resources, documentation, and expertise available to support flight control software development

🌐 **Demystifying Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) Simulation in aerospace for testing guidance, navigation and control software** 🚁💡🚀 **What is SIL Simulation?** 🛰️At its core, SIL simulation is a method that bridges virtual and real worlds. It involves integrating a aircraft's software into a simulated environment where it interacts with virtual models of hardware components. This dynamic fusion empowers developers to test and refine software algorithms without relying solely on physical hardware. In essence, it's like a digital laboratory for honing aircraft capabilities.🛩️ **PROTECT THE EXPENSIVE HARDWARE FROM FAULTY SOFTWARE ** 🌍Imagine this: the flight control software of a drone tested in a digital sky, free from physical constraints. SIL simulation offers precisely that. By replicating real-world scenarios virtually, drone developers can fine-tune algorithms, assess flight behaviors, and optimize performance under diverse conditions without risking the actual expensive hardware. From takeoff to landing, SIL simulation serves as a proving ground for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient craft operations.Isro also used SIL for verification of their own flight softwares. The SIL simulation for Chandrayaan-3 was conducted using the ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 Simulation and Analysis Suite (CSAS). The CSAS is a software platform that allows engineers to simulate the entire Chandrayaan-3 mission, from launch to landing. In a nutshell, SIL simulation is the virtual bridge between aircraft software and the real world. As the aerospace industry continues to soar to new heights, the strategic use of SIL simulation fosters groundbreaking innovation, enhancing both aircraft capabilities and the industry's potential. 🚁🔗Below is the video of SIL simulation of aerothon 2022 drone flight software.#SILSimulation #FlightAlgorithms #VirtualTesting #failproof softwareKLE Technological University - Hubballi (India)

You have probably heard about the notion of running a million scenarios, enabled by simulation. And simulation needs to reflect the real world. In this regard, developing virtual worlds involves creating scenes, creating scenarios, modeling sensors, and modeling vehicle dynamics. The new product RoadRunner Scenario released in R2022a will help the engineers to interactively design scenarios for simulating and testing automated driving systems. You can place vehicles, define their paths and interactions in the scenario, and then simulate the scenario in the editor. It enables you to generate multiple variations of scenarios programmatically, export them to ASAM OpenSCENARIO®, and simulate and visualize them in automated driving simulators and players. #automateddriving #simulation#matlab #StellantisInterested in trying it out , please let us know:
